Facility Description

Our 3,000 square foot instructional facility is adjacent to the newly renovated TPC Stadium Clubhouse and is surrounded by the world-renowned TPC Stadium golf course. This state-of-the-art game improvement facility features indoor hitting bays, a private practice area, a putting and chipping green, practice bunkers and advanced diagnostic technologies. The facility also includes a comprehensive club-fitting area and an outdoor hospitality area that perfectly complements the Southern charm and understated elegance of the new Stadium Clubhouse.

The TOUR Academy TPC Sawgrass has been designed with a variety of unique enhancements to create an unparalleled environment for improving your game while incorporating the natural beauty and warmth that is inherent to Ponte Vedra Beach. The grass practice tees and greens are manicured to PGA TOUR tournament standards allowing you to develop new skills under ideal conditions.

Our Technology

Your personal instruction at the TOUR Academy TPC Sawgrass is complemented by the latest teaching technologies including V1 video analysis, Dynamic Balance System, Trackman & Taylor Made MAT-T. This collection of technology is one of the most impressive in the world and are all positioned to enhance the level of play for any golfer.

V1 video analysis allows our instruction staff to diagnose your swing from multiple camera angles as well as compare and contrast your swing mechanics on a split screen with many of the best golfers in the world. Each instructional experience will be recorded with instructional voice-overs and either copied to a CD or sent to your own personal e-mail. These resources are great for long term progression and provide inspiration after you leave the academy.

In addition to V1 video analysis, a Dynamic Balance System is also used as an instructional tool to provide real-time computer assisted feedback, designed to monitor your weight transfer and center of gravity. The DBS system provides great feedback on the body and its role during a good golf swing.

Trackman is the first launch monitor of its kind to map the entire flight of the golf ball from impact to landing, displaying its 3D trajectory in real-time. At the same time, the solution provides a complete statistical analysis of the swing and ball flight with the important club data and angles delivered to you in an easy to understand, ready to print, save or e-mail. Trackman is the #1 launch monitor on the PGA TOUR and provides the data necessary to custom club fit as well as enhance the instructional experience.

Finally, Taylor Made MAT-T brings everything together providing a superior club-fitting and/or instructional experience by supplying club-fitters and instructors with an un-paralleled level of practical data. This information creates a remarkably sophisticated three-dimensional computer animated image of your swing viewable form every angle.

Instructional Staff
Our Head Instructor: Todd Jones
Todd Jones is one of Florida’s premier instructors and is currently the Head instructor at the world-renowned TOUR Academy TPC Sawgrass. He has been with the TOUR Academy since 2003.

Prior to joining us, Todd spent two years as the Director of Golf Schools for the PGA of America. A PGA member since 1996, Todd has taught full time since 1995 and has extensive experience working with players of all levels. Some of Todd’s top students on the professional tours include Sandy Lyle, Len Mattiace and Sophie Gustaphson. In addition, Todd has worked with competitors ranked among the top 10 amateurs in Florida including the 2004 Florida Mid-Amateur Champion.

Jones has been instrumental in co-developing innovative instruction programs for the TOUR Academy, helping to establish it as a leader in golf instruction. He also plays a critical role in the development and training of the TOUR Academy’s instruction staff throughout the country. A native of Binghamton, New York, Jones competed for the University of Rochester in NY.

Each of our TOUR Academy instructors is a carefully selected career teaching professional who share a refreshing, effective and proven approach to the art of successful golf instruction.

All of our instructors are certified to the exacting standards of the TOUR Academy brand. Certification requires a commitment to the core values that define the TOUR Academies and a demonstrated level of expertise to the four cornerstones of improvement:

The TOUR Academy approach requires all instructors to adhere to a personable, straight-forward teaching style of applying the golf's accepted fundamentals and a positive mental approach to the game. Our expert staff will:

• Help you develop a game plan that will lead to more confidence on the golf course. This game plan will focus on the specific areas of improvement whether it’s full swing, short game or on-course instruction. Whether it’s adding more distance to your drives, improving accuracy of approach shots or saving shots around the greens – we can help.
• Use the latest and greatest in golf technology. These tools will enhance the learning environment and provide all of the necessary data to improve anyone’s game. When combining the world of visual learning with the appropriate auditory and feel, each educational experience will be maximized.
• Teach you the ball flight laws so you will be able to recognize your own swing flaws as they occur and make the necessary corrections. An individualized practice routine will be established so you can focus on how you can improve your swing fundamentals after returning home.
• Enhance your short game feel by teaching you the time-tested mechanics that will allow you to master putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play as well as some specialty short game shots which, together, represent the majority of the game's shots and the fastest route to lowering your scores.
• Help you develop a pre-shot routine that establishes a solid foundation for consistent and accurate execution on every type of shot you will face on the course. A solid pre-shot routine will help the transition from the practice facility to the golf course.
• Help you blend the improvements of your swing technique with the proper club-fitting. Blending the instruction and the club-fitting together will allow for any player to be custom fitted for long-term progression.
• Our experienced Fitness staff consists of a licensed physical therapist, a NFPT-certified fitness professional and a board certified sports dietician whom will assess and design a game plan to build towards peak performance on the golf course.
